Technical Description
(1) The CSD-HLX is designed to enable free rotation of optical components around a central point of the cage assembly for true omnidirectional motion. The fixture mount of the gimbal is featured with two through holes at a 30×30 mm spacing, allowing horizontal or vertical mounting to 30 mm cage systems via Ø6 mm posts. The position of the gimbal mount can be locked by tightening the side set screws with a 1.5 mm wrench.

(2) The optical component mount is compatible with Ø1-inch lenses with a maximum thickness of 4.7 mm. Optical components are secured in the SM1 (1.035″-40) central threaded area with the included CSK3 retaining ring.

(3) In operation, after roughly setting the angular orientation of the optical component mount, fine adjustment can be performed using two fine adjustment screws with a 2 mm hex wrench (i.e., two 100 TPI adjusters, 13 mrad of adjustment per revolution) to achieve a certain light spot offset for precise alignment.A second angular degree of freedom is achieved by rotating the middle mount base. This base connects the optical component mount to the cage assembly and allows free rotation of ±30°.

(4) Locking MechanismWhen the set screws are loose, 360° manual coarse rotation and fine adjustment via the two adjustment screws (with a 1.5 mm wrench) can be performed separately. Both coarse and fine adjustments can be locked with a 2 mm wrench to fix the position completely. For fine adjustment only, the 1.5 mm set screw hole needs to be locked.
