Technical Notes

 

MCSM series dovetail adapters integrate microscopy platforms with SM1, SM2, 30 mm and 60 mm cage systems, enabling optical-to-threaded port mating for custom imaging configurations, including wide-field observation, epi-illumination, trans-illumination, and condenser mechanics.

MCSM1-2 has external SM1 thread on one end and internal SM2 thread on the other, compatible with our lens tube series. MCSM2-D2 has external SM2 thread and internal M38×0.5 thread on one end, and a Ø2-inch male dovetail on the other, for easy mating between microscopy optical ports and threaded lens tubes.

It can be used with the MCP-D2B microscopy port dovetail adapter plate for male-female dovetail port mating. The adapter plate features male/female dovetails and 60-mm-spaced cage rod holes, compatible with 60 mm cage systems.

Relay tube lenses correct aberrations between the sample and objective and improve image quality. With external M38×0.5 and SM1 threads, they mount directly inside the MCSM2-D2 dovetail adapter.

The MLES-3 tube sleeve has internal/external SM2 (2.035”-40) threads on both ends and an inner bore of Ø37 mm. (No internal lens; no magnification.) It positions the camera’s CCD chip at the image plane when used with trinocular or dual-camera ports. An SM-Z4 telescoping sleeve can be added to compensate for mechanical tolerances or alignment issues.

The MLES40D2 extension sleeve has internal SM2 (2.035”-40) thread on one end and a Ø2-inch male dovetail on the other, enabling mounting between SM threaded tubes and dovetail adapter plates.
