Technical Notes

The PSM series differential adjusters offer high resolution and repeatability. A lever mechanism amplifies the resolution of the high-precision fine adjustment thread to achieve minimal axial displacement. This unique design ensures uniform and smooth movement that is largely independent of load. The spherical tip guarantees single-point contact between the adjuster and the contact surface.

The differential adjuster features two internal lead screws: one drives the central spindle forward at a resolution of 0.5 mm per revolution, while the other retracts it at a precision of 0.375 mm per revolution. Thus, each full rotation of the graduated knob results in a total displacement of only 125 μm for the central spindle. The fine adjustment knob has a graduation of 2.5 μm, and the coarse adjustment pitch is 0.5 mm. (Note: For fine adjustment, the coarse adjustment mechanism must first be locked with the lock ring before operation.)
